Bahar Dar is marvelous town set on the south - eastern shore of Lake Tana, the two main attraction sites are 13th century ancient monasteries that have been built around Lake Tana and on the many Islands one can reach with an interesting boat trip on lake Tana 3rd biggest lake in Africa and the Blue Nile water fall creates “Smoking Water" an awe-inspiring sight as it plunges into the gorge below (the fall is full during the rainy season) Bahirdar is also famous for colorful local market at Bahir Dar is renowned for its weavers and wood workers.

Awra Amba is an Ethiopian community of about 400 people, located 73 kilometers east of Bahirdar founded in 1980 by Zumra Nuru with the goal of solving socio-economic problems through helping one another in an environment of egalitarianism—in marked contrast to the traditional norms of Amhara society. The community lauded as a model to alleviate poverty and promote gender equality in a country where women are generally subservient to men

DAY 1 – FLY ADDIS ABABA- BAHIRDAR BOAT TRIP ON LAKE TANA TO VISIT THE MONASTERIES AND LOCAL MARKET

Early in the morning around 5:45 AM transfer to the airport to fly Bahirdar, upon arrival meet with SET staff then directly transfer to the hotel, after breakfast take a boat trip on Lake Tana and visit two of the most accessible and representative of the monasteries with very beautiful well painting from the medieval time still serving their original function, Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam then ride back to Bahirdar on the way see the outlet of the famous Blue Nile the longest river in the world as it depart from the lake, Afternoon depending on the way local market to see the colorful market of the Amhara peoples, overnight hotel

DAY 2 - EXCURSION TO AWRA AMBA COMMUNITY & TRIP TO THE BLUE NILE FALL- FLY BACK TO ADDIS ABABA

Early morning excursion to Awra Amba community driving throuth the most fertile and scenic road detour to visit the Awra Amba community (Awra Amba is an Ethiopian community of about 400 people, located 73 kilometers east of Bahirdar in the Fogera woreda of Debub Gondar Zone. It was founded in 1980 with the goal of solving socio-economic problems through helping one another in an environment of egalitarianism—in marked contrast to the traditional norms of Amhara society.

Founded by Zumra Nuru, who currently serves as co-chairman of the community, with 19 other people who shared his vision, as of 2007 Awra Amba has some 400 members, and is lauded as a model to alleviate poverty and promote gender equality in a country where women are generally subservient to men), then drive to the Blue Nile Falls, (the water amount of the fall is depending on the rain), but a drive to the village worth and walking to the fall, late afternoon drive back to Bahirdar take some coffee break and transfer to the airport to fly back to Addis, evening cultural dinner with live cultural music and dance performance in one of the best Ethiopian traditional restaurant.
